To achieve an amazing pour over, follow these 4 steps:

1. Boil filtered water to avoid chemical residues that can affect the taste.
2. Grind fresh whole beans to your desired coarseness, using a medium grind (15-20 on a Baratza Encore) as a starting point.
3. Place the filter in your brewer, folding the top over to keep it in place. Start with 2 level tablespoons (~10g) of coffee per 6-8oz cup of water.
4. Pour the hot water in a circular pattern to wet all the grounds, let it bloom for 30 seconds, then repeat.

Cleaning the reusable filter is simple:

1. Remove the filter and dump the spent grounds into the trash or compost.
2. Rinse the filter under the faucet, turning it inside out to wash out any remaining grounds.
3. Squeeze out the water, but don't wring it dry to maintain the filter's shape.
4. Place or hang the filter somewhere to air dry, usually just back in the brewer.

Over time, the cotton filter may develop coffee residue, oils, or even mildew/mold. In this case, soak the filter overnight in a mixture of vinegar and baking soda.
